Beacher's Madness Looks For Permanent Venue in Miami

When Kelly Osbourne was in Miami last month, she wasn't just cracking open her head and spending time in Mercy Hospital. She may have been scouting locations for the freaky sideshow Beacher's Madhouse.

Osbourne is the show's creative director and partner to creator Jeff Beacher. The two have been spotted in Miami, reportedly looking for a permanent venue for Beacher's Madness, according to Scene in the Tropics.

Currently housed in Hollywood's Roosevelt Hotel, Beacher's Madness is a variety show with a special focus on the vertically-challenged. It boasts a Tiny KISS cover band, Oompa Loompas, and Mini Lady Gaga in addition to circus curios such as sword swallowers and tight-rope walkers.

The freak show landed at LIV last year in a special event hosted by David Arquette and showman/comedian/creator Beacher. The stage was filled with dancing Ommpa Loompas, pink gorillas, and a sweaty Arquette clutching a Pee-Wee Herman doll. Check out World Red Eye's gallery from the night here.

Why is this big news? Because Beacher's a refreshing option in an otherwise stale club scene. Plus, wherever Beacher's Madness lands, the B-list celebrities will follow. As Lesley Abravanel writes, "Small folk and enormous egos. Sounds perfect for Miami."

The long-awaited Gaga's Workshop is now officially open at Barneys in New York.

Lady Gaga was on hand last night — in a custom Chanel couture dress, specially designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the occasion — to cut the ribbon and welcome inside the likes of Prabal Gurung, Carolyn Murphy, and Alexander Wang.

The store's fifth floor is completely transformed until Jan. 2, filled with chocolate Alexander McQueen armadillo shoes, studded press-on nails, and candle replicas of Gaga’s head that cry when lit. Inflatable cartoonish sculptures and taxicab wraps promoted the opening around the city, and Barneys's windows, too, have been Gaga-fied. "My favorite window I think is [the] one window that looks like my boudoir and it's covered in blonde hair," Gaga told WWD. "It's gorgeous."

Despite all the expenditure, Barneys expects to break even on the promotion, its chief executive Mark Lee said. Twenty-five percent of the workshop's sales will go to Gaga's new Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment; Lee added that the store hopes to raise over $1 million for the cause.

The duo has created the delightfully sleazy single “Unzip Me," the video for which was directed by Bec Stupak (who worked on Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" video) and premiered on The Huffington Post. This playful, raucous track shows off Cazwell’s frisky lyrics and Peaches' salacious edge, and the video's a multicolored blur of nudity and insanity. Most definitely NSFW.

Courtney Love’s big interview in the new Vanity Fair isn’t having the healing effect she had hoped it would on Frances Bean, her daughter with the late Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain.

While much of the article focuses on her relationship and feelings for Cobain, Love also bemoans the fact she has no real relationship any more with her only child.

Though Love blames herself for failing to read to Frances as a child or take her to a Broadway show, a source close to the 19-year-old scoffed at that, saying, “It’s all about the emotional abuse she suffered due to Courtney’s problems with drugs and her addictive behavior that created such an unstable life for Frances Bean.”

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty @ The Met

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to NYC to check out the McQueen exhibit at the Met. Although I had to wait in line for 45 minutes, it was well worth it! Alexander McQueen's influence
in the fashion world was enormous!

McQueen was clearly a tortured mastermind who really pushed the limits when it came to the fashion world. He channeled his warped thoughts through fashion by
giving his fascinating designs a life of their own. Touring this exhibit is a fashionista's dream! The exhibit was an imaginative edgy unsettling work of skillful talent!
Each piece was exceptionally stunning and outrageously wicked simultaneously! His uniqueness really reflected through his visually stunning work of art.
Each room had a different type of mood with specific type of music. Some of the music was definitely on the eerie side, while some of the music had a very calm vibe...
The craftsmanship and design of his clothing definitely showed his dark side, and his one of a kind gift to the fashion world!

This exhibit is only around for a limited time in NYC. It will be gone by the 1st week in August. I highly recommend any who is a fan of fashion to check out this
exhibit while you can! If you go early in the morning, I have been told that you can beat the line. You can also by a membership to the Met for $70.00 and
skip the line completely.

Over the course of his career, Pop Art pioneer Andy Warhol took thousands of photographs that were never intended to be seen by the public.
In the 1970s, at the height of Warhol’s extraordinary fame as an artist and filmmaker, he bought two automatic cameras that he carried with him everywhere. Using a small 35mm camera he took countless black and white snapshots of his immediate environment—parties, art studios, and New York City streets. Meanwhile, Warhol restructured his artistic practice around the Polaroid Big Shot camera: he produced carefully staged Polaroid portraits of friends and celebrities, many of which he used as the basis for his iconic prints and silkscreen paintings. The Polaroids follow a standard format, with the subject posed against a blank wall, close to the camera, their features abstracted by the strong flash and, often, heavy white makeup. The search to capture just the right image often resulted in up to a hundred slightly varied pictures of each sitter—an approach that reveals Warhol’s eye for detail and obsession with photography as an all-consuming process.
In 2008, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts donated 152 of the Polaroid and black and white photographs to the Smart Museum through the Andy Warhol Legacy Program. Featuring over sixty of them—many of which are being displayed publicly for the first time—Warhol at Work offers an almost voyeuristic glimpse into Warhol’s world, where experimental play, business, and art mix freely. The exhibition will illuminate both the identity of many of the sitters and establish their relationships to the artist and his work. It will also spotlight one example of Warhol’s characteristic use of photography by displaying Witch, a screenprint from his 1981 portfolio Myths, alongside its source—a Polaroid portrait of Margaret Hamilton, former star of the Hollywood classic The Wizard of Oz (1939). Such a pairing allows a concrete understanding of the sort of mechanical and creative transformations that characterize Warhol’s most important work.

Benefits of avocado are numerous: it is filled with monounsaturated fats, Vitamin B and E, nutrients excellent for moisturizing and rejuvenating dry or tired skin.
First recipe is for Avocado Face Mask for Dry and Sensitive Skin

Ingredients:
1 avocado
3-4 drops of almond oil
Preparation

◦Peel and mash avocado and add almond oil until the mass is consistent.
◦Apply to face while massaging it gently
◦Let it rest for 30 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Before you move on to the next mask, here is avocado trivia for you:

Moisturizing Avocado facial mask recipe

Ingredients:
1 avocado
1 teaspoon of apple vinegar
1 egg white
3 teaspoons of olive oil

Preparation:
◦Peel and mash avocado and start adding the rest of the ingredients. Egg white should be beaten before you put it in.
◦When the mass is done, apply to face and wash off after 20 minutes or so.
◦This mask provides great moisture for skin, making it soft and elastic.

How did you first discover that you wanted to be a hair and make-up artist? How long ago have you been in this industry?I’ve been in this industry my whole life. I was born and grew up in a beauty salon. I like to bring to life everything that I sketch and paint. I’m in love with that process.

What artists have influenced your artist path?

Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol are some of my favorite. As I grew in the 80’s music also took a big roll as part of my inspiration, artists like Souxie and the Banshees, Blondie, Madonna. But what has impacted me the most is seeing men wear glam rock make-up like David Bowie. That proved to me the endless possibilities of the art of make-up and hair. It’s timeless and genderless.

What difficulties have you encountered as a contemporary artist when it comes to apply your artsy skills?Sometimes I feel I have to hold back on my creativity, not many people are open-minded or appreciate what’s different.

Who would you die for to stylize their hair or do their make-up?

Aside from this fashion and beauty industry you are in, what else interests you?
Art is my life! But I also love to travel, to see places I’ve never thought of before. I also like to fish, ride motorcycles and to paint.
It seems that passion is one powerful motor that keeps you going everyday. What else is essential to be a successful artist like yourself?
To be successful is to love what you do. If you don’t, then you haven’t found what’s going to make you successful.

If we have to erase the words “make-up artist” and “hair styling” from the dictionary, how would you describe what you do?

HOLE - Courtney Love still rock'n

I just saw Hole live last night at the Vic theater in Chicago. I was a little skeptical once I arrived, the crowd was a strange mix, not so cool. The first band Foxy Shazam was trying to be over the top kinda 70's circus glam, but it was sort of ridiculous, which was really making me wish I had not bought these tickets. I mean if Courtney Love chose that band, then what is she thinking? The wait seemed to be forever, I almost wanted to leave.
Finally, the show is starting, she walks out,
perfectly peroxide hair, cut in a long severe bob style, bangs in eyes, her face perfectly chiseled, only the best plastic surgery could buy. Her first words are "sorry I am late, I was shopping on Michigan Avenue". LOVE IT!
She starts with "Pretty on the inside" very old classic Hole...then continues with all of her classic songs, a few new ones, she is a classic american rock star, like keith richards in her own right, smoking like a million cigarettes through out the entire show.
By the way did I mention how skinny she is? Well, like so skinny her skin tight dress was baggy, SUPER SKINNY!You could see her belly button popping out from her stomach, kinda gross.
I was pleasantly pleased by the show, and she ended with Nothern Lights, acoustic....5 stars Courtney!

Fuerza Bruta "Brute Force"

We just saw Fuerza Bruta which tranlates "Brute Force" is awesome! It is like some weird dream, and a rave all mixed into one.When I refer the the rave part, it is because the audience all stands throughout the peformance, on the stage and the show happens all around, through the audience and literally above the audience's heads. (literally a glass swimming pool lowers above your head!) There are moments of anticipation, surprise, water misters, semi horns and dance music with confetti. Dress casual, get in the center, and look around. Since it is kinda like a dance party rave, feel free to dance and jump up and down, also in Chicago, there is a full bar in the lobby, encouraging you lossen up for this one!

Even a greater news for Hello Kitty fans is that in July 2008, the first Hello Kitty Townhouse Hotel was opened in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It is a 2,000 sq. ft. townhouse with three bedrooms. The external appearance is extremely cute and it looks like an English townhouse. The living room is decorated with all sorts of Hello Kitty decorations and the colour scheme is pink, the classic Hello Kitty color. How much does this cost????

So for the clothing swap virgin, here's how it works....
Bring whatever you can clean out of your closet. Whether a shopping
bag, a garbage bag or a rolling suitcase, and when you arrive we will
have arranged the space into areas for shoes, accessories, shirts,
jackets, etc. You'll grab a drink, unpack, breathe deep and start
shopping. Take as much as you want. Or use the opportunity to purge
and keep that closet looking lean. It's always fun to see where your
stuff ends up.

For $15, you might literally get a whole new wardrobe!

All leftovers will be donated to an organization yet to be determined.

Awe, this is an instant classic, I knew from the commercial! I was teary eyed from the beginning, I am not sure why it struck such a chord, but it did. I loved Max, the weird loner boy at the heart of the story. This is a story about a lonely kid whose parents adore him but are just way too busy for him. Sound familiar? So Max finds his own world in the mix of a bunch of monsters, p.s. I love Carol too, aka Tony Soprano!

By the way the sound track is amazing, especially with last week's release of "All Is Love," the first single from the film's soundtrack by Karen O and the Kids on both MySpace and iTunes.

Pumpkin Muffins!

OK, so I do not condone these, they are fattening, full of sugar etc. but I cannot resist the goodness of pumpkin flavored treats about this time of year. So today I walked to work. It's about a 20 minute walk, and half way there, I pass a dunkin donuts, I thought, I wonder if they are selling those delicious Pumpkin muffins... sure enough they were and with a hot cup of joe, I was ready to fill all those Halloween internet orders with highly pigmented eye dust and glitter! I wonder if I should walk to work tomorrow too?

Whiten Your Teeth the Natural Way

The secret to this inexpensive home whitening method is malic acid, which acts as an astringent to remove surface discoloration. Combined with baking soda, strawberries become a natural tooth-cleanser, buffing away stains from coffee, red wine, and dark sodas. While it’s no replacement for a bleaching treatment at your dentist’s office, “this is a fast, cheap way to brighten your smile,” says Adina Carrel, DMD, a dentist in private practice at Manhattan Dental Arts in New York. “Be careful not to use this too often, though, as the acid could damage the enamel on your teeth.”

You need:
1 ripe strawberry
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions: Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking soda until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry–baking soda mix. Rinse. (A little floss will help get rid of any strawberry seeds.) Carrel says you can apply once a week.

Hey ya'all! We have been really busy this summer working on product developement. It seems we can not sit still and be satisfied, we have to constantly have something new on the back burner! We have a new larger version of "The Fix" and "Stick it" coming out in just another week or so. The good news is, the package is larger, so you get more for your money!

We also have sold out of our signature cosmetic bag so guess what...yep not just (1) new style on the way, but (3) yes (3)!!!

When I watch shows like this one I always try to guess based on the judges point of view, who will be cast off. I was guessing that Mo would go, and sure enough, she went. She had awesome personal style, that bright red hair, her exaggerated false eyelashes, and super cute clothes. I just could not figure out why she could not transform her personal creativity onto her models. Oh, well, I liked her, but I felt she was not shining through on this show. I still like Maxi, he has great technique, I only wish I could see what these artist could do without a stop watch! Only one girl left against three outrageously awesome gay men! BLUSH episode 3

Episode 3, now the show is starting to get serious, 2 contestants were eliminated, Sharzad, she just really needs to learn the difference between the 70's and the 80's, and the 20's etc. She definitely has a future career in makeup, but most likely behind a makeup counter, and that is totally fine. The judges thought she was a little heavy handed, I didn't mind, I like bold. Myke finally gets the boot, it's like sorry, but your personal style says it all, it is not about your age, but you look like the tour manager of Whitesnake, and as much as Whitesnake can totally rock, the tour manager look, is well, dated to say the least! He has this long list of experience, but it really didn't show, I mean, I heard Glamour shots is looking for a makeup artist.

Now is where this show is going to get good! It is really going to get heated with the remaining artist, they all know that everyone left now is truly talented and has special expertise, so it will depend on the challenges ahead. Maxi, dear, you still have a huge chance, but it is not in the bag yet!

OK, so Maxi is the star of this show, at least I think so, anyone who cries gets the cake, know what I mean? I also like Nolan and Mo. What about Charlie Green, the mentor makeup artist? I love her! The way she antagonizes as she checks in on each artist during their projects. But what was with that faux-hawk? Anyhoo, the poor girl who took a risk on purple eye shadow got sent home, wrong choice today, sorry Rainell..... Can't wait till next Tuesday at 9:00pm CST. Lifetime!

BTW, Sharzad, thinking that Madonna in the 80's cult classic movie "Desperately Seeking Susan" was twisted disco, come on, get your decades straight! Seasons are changing!

Can you believe it is already November, the elections are behind us and now we begin the countdown to the craziest time of year! At the Medusa's Make-Up facility we have been working our butts off, just like little elves making toys, we have so many eye dusts, glitters and lip glosses in stock and ready to be shipped to the nice and naughty! My personal favorite lip gloss this month is "Smooch" it is suprisingly perfect! Also, Fascination eye dust looks really cool with my new purple glitter knit sweater!
So I am super psyched about our website, I think it looks amazing, yes I have to toot my own horn! It has been a masterpiece in the making! chao bella!

Had a very veggie lunch with PETA!

Wow, I feel really honored, I just had lunch with a PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) representative. Since I was being visited in my home town of Chicago, it was my choice of restaurants, so we went to one of my favorite places, Victory's Banner. I ordered my usual tofu curry wrap, delicious by the way, and she ordered the veggie/peanut wrap.

Very nice conversation and inspirational to say the least. We spoke about our careers, recycling, her farm in California with her 2 pigs! I only have one cat, so I felt kind of boring in comparison. It is always great to meet total strangers with different backgrounds that actually stand for the same values.

Medusa's Make-up was awarded the PETA trailblazer award! PETA currently has a contest on the PETA2.com site for a Medusa's Make-Up giveaway, they like us and we like them and we all like animlas! Life is good!
